“Frank Sinatra” – A Circus Mind

Sinatra is one of the most chronicled celebrities of modern times. Sinatra became a successful solo artist in the mid 40’s, won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in From Here to Eternity, was a founding member of the Rat Pack, was pals with JFK, rubbed elbows with the Chicago Mob, and as previously stated the golden tongue in the ear of many a silver screen dream. “Frank Sinatra” – A Circus Mind

This break refers to Sinatra peerless blue eyes that could seemingly cut through a man twice his size and the melt the hearts of America’s drooling wives. Sinatra was just as famous for his run at starlets as he was for his definitive voice and all business no bullshit style. He was romantically linked to Ava Gardner, Nancy Sinatra, Mia Farrow and Barbara Marx, among others.

Frank Sinatra – A Circus Mind

These first couple of lines refer to Frank’s iconic style and no nonsense attitude. Frank Sinatra once sang with Dean Martin and Bing Crosby on the song Style that “you’ve either got or you haven’t got style, if you’ve got it you stand out a mile.” This gem was rather appropriate coming from a man who knew a lot about style himself. Indeed, Frank Sinatra’s dress sense is almost as respectable as his singing. To many, he represented the classic swinger and no one can take his place. Reinventing himself in the 50’s, the starry-eyed boy next door turned into the cosmopolitan man of the world, a bruised romantic with a tough-guy streak and a song for every emotional season. I mean it’s the damn Chairman of the Board!

The next entry from the book A Circus Mind covers the life of Sinatra. Frank Sinatra was indisputably the 20th century’s greatest singer of popular song. He mainstreamed the concept of singing colloquially, treating lyrics as personal statements and handling melodies with the ease of a jazz improviser. Not only did his freely interpretive approach pave the way for the idiosyncrasies of rock singing, but with his character a mix of tough-guy cool and romantic vulnerability, he became the first true pop idol, a superstar who through his music established a persona audiences found compelling and true.
